OUR HISTORY.
Owned and operated by Sean Freed, FREED Performance was built on a platform of unique and efficient customer service and quality. Sean has spent 4 years in automotive training and about 15 years in the field, overall. He considers himself to be a "perfectionist" and considers your car to be his own, the second it rolls into his shop. While FREED Performance isn't the only shop in town, they strive to be the best when it comes to the needs of customers, turnaround, and performance capabilities.
WHY GO TO THE DEALER?
Why waste your time and money going to overpriced dealers when you can get the same service at a fraction of the cost. FREED Performance has always put their customers at #1 and will stop at nothing short of perfection. FREED has the capabilities and knowledge to work on any year, make and model - both foreign & domestic, but Porsche has been their main focus for sometime. Overall, they have started to expand their focus into the other European and Italian car lines.
ABOUT SEAN.
Sean Freed's intense passion for cars started when he was only 15. After reading a high performance magazine, he was hooked. Nothing else mattered but having the most powerful and best handling car around. Growing up, his family did not have a lot of extra money so his passion for cars was very limited. After several summers of working and saving every penny, at the age of 17, he was able to purchase a 1972 Chevelle SS with a small block 350. Needless to say, its not the most powerful of cars or the best handling, but to him, it might as well have been a brand new 911 Turbo.
During High School, Sean took classes at the local trade school in efforts to learn as much as possible in order to become an automotive technician. By the time he graduated High School, he was able to graduate with a High School Diploma as well as a Diploma in Automotive Technology just months after his graduation. At this point, he was 18 and officially started his career as an automotive technician. He started working at a small independent shop about 15 min from his parents house and after about 6 months, Sean realized he was ready for more. He was ready to build high performance machines and work on high performance vehicles.
EDUCATION.
While watching all of his favorite car shows on a Sunday afternoon, he saw a commercial about UTI. During that commercial, they explained how the offer high performance training and how to make a career out of it. At that point, Sean looked over at his father and said "That is what I want to do." After a couple days, Sean came to the realization that his father had seen the same commercial because, to his surprise, he looked at Sean and casually said "I called UTI and they are sending you an information packet to look over." At this point, Sean knew this was his first step in the quest to live a life of high performance. After getting accepted to the school and with only a few months until enrollment, Sean quickly prepared himself for a move from rural life in Minnesota to urban life in Chicago.
Sean attended UTI's automotive, diesel, and industrial program - an 18-month course that he completed in only 15 months. Here are a few achievements Sean achieved while attending school at UTI:
- - Placed on the Directors List for the majority of his schooling
- - 9 SOP pins- Student of the Phase - or top student in the class
- - 4.0 GPA and perfect attendance (which lead to his acceptance into the Porsche Training Program - PTAP)
PTAP involved 5 months of Porsche specific training at a Porsche training center. Upon graduation, Sean accepted a position at Hennessy Porsche in Alpharetta, GA. He quickly moved up through the ranks and became a Senior Porsche Technician.
FREED IS BORN.
After enough time passed at Hennessy, Sean realized he was ready for the next level; he was ready to get out on his own. With his extensive knowledge in European cars and background working on American and Japanese car lines allowed him to launch FREED Performance. He is ASE Master Certified with Advanced Certifications and 9 Porsche Credentials. Sean also came to the conclusion that the Forsyth County area was in need of a high quality service and performance shop where customer satisfaction is the highest priority. Welcome to FREED.
